Web 2
Hard to get a grip on the elusive meaning of web 2.
Some of the talk seems to be just hollow hype, kinda like putting GT stripes on your car to make it go faster.
The nearest I can come to explaining what it means to me is probably to say a maturing of the web. A lot more user friendly to the extent that virtually anyone can do anything, not just the geeks.

Some more tasks.
Usability
I believe more use should be made of the multi media aspect of the web. As the readings on this topic show, people generally don't read more than about 20% of content during a visit. Imagine if television consisted of pages and pages of text.
Also too much information at once. I have that trouble on my site and we are constantly trimming back the homepage to keep it clean.
Copyright
This is another big issue on my site as it is a wiki and therefore other people can contribute whatever they like. You have to agree to our rules before you can contribute but on wiipedia there is no need for registration and I often wonder how they get around the duty of care aspect regarding copyright.
Blogs
Blogs are a fantastic way for people to get their message out. No matter how obscure your particular interest may be you can publish text, pictures and video and reach a worldwide audience. You need little skill and even less finance to do it.
FTP
As far as the FTP excersise goes, I use FileZilla and my uploads go here:

First Post
Ok, so I've completed the first task.
What a pain in the...
anyway.
Telnet is(was)cool and Im sure it still has it's uses today (hard to think of them though)
The star wars stuff was awsome in an appreciation for effort kind of way.
The guys who did that are really skilled and dedicated.
They also should get a life.
